Yes, it is important to have that favorite rifle sighted in PRIOR to your fall hunting trip or you can have a built in excuse for missing that big buck or bull elk. Albany Rifle and Pistol Club will be open to the general public for two weekends in September (see our calendar for dates) from 9am to 4pm to sight in hunting rifles. The cost is still $10 per rifle and this includes targets. ARPC club members can also use this service without paying the $10 fee as it is considered a membership benefit. Experienced club members will be assisting each person during the sight-in process to make sure the range is operating safely. Everyone must wear eye and ear protection. Safety glasses and ear plugs will be available for purchase if someone forgets to bring them. If you are a club member and want to help at Hunter's Sight In Days contact the club office at 541-491-3755.

ARPC Basic Handgun Course
Please Sign Up Pre-Class Registration Required Meet in NRC Bay 1 Jim Gallant jim6br@gmail.com
About this course:
The ARPC is offering a basic BEGINNING handgun course intended for people over age 18 who have had little, if any, previous firearm training. This course is also open to the public. Instructors are ARPC Range Safety Officers and the curriculum is patterned after the NRA Beginning Handgun Course. This is not a concealed carry license class. The class is three hours in duration: one hour classroom, one hour dry fire, and one hour live fire. The goal is safety and handgun familiarity rather than marksmanship. Class fee is $30 and is open to members or non-members alike. Ammo is an additional cost - 9MM is $13/box of 50, 380 is $18 per box of 50 and 22 is $4 per box of 50. Students must use our range guns (mostly Glocks) and must use our factory ammunition. The class instructor will accept credit card payments over the phone. Payment is required in advance and is non-refundable. We anticipate each participant to fire around 50 to 100 rounds.
We will review:
Safety rules
Storage and transportation of firearms
Discuss handgun types
Magazines and loaders
Ammunition choices
The use of handgun sights
What to expect at the range
Range commands
The five items you need at the range besides the firearm
The seven fundamentals of shooting
Shooting positions
Common shooting errors
Cleaning your gun
Future training opportunities will also be explored. Classes are generally scheduled the first or second Sunday of each month is reserved from 12:30-3:30pm. Please keep an eye on the calendar in case we need to change a date. This class has limited attendance but will be repeated monthly. For questions and to sign up please contact Jim at jim6br@gmail.com.
